Everything Is A Variable: Immunochemistry Wetlab

Date: November 14th and 15th, 2024

Ready to Up Your Immunochemistry Game?!

This is a 2 day, in person learning experience, starting at the beginning of understanding what immunochemistry is, how it works, then doing the process in a hands on, benchtop-style training.

We, here at SVP, have been doing immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry for well over a decade, and want to share what we've learned along the way. Our goal is to make IHC and ICC more commonplace diagnostics for benefit of the patient, while adhering to the high quality standards that are required for this complex, yet accessible, process.

What your 2 days with SVP will look like:

Both days will consist of a balance of lecture, discussion, and hands-on immunochemistry procedure. Basic interpretation will be covered in the afternoon each day as part of reviewing the results of your procedure.

8:30 am: Arrive at SVP and get to know your fellow attendees and instructors over a light breakfast and coffee. (It's Seattle; of course there will be coffee!)

9:00 am: Learning starts! Lecture and discussion with a balance of hands-on procedure doing your own immunochemistry staining. Topics covered include:

  • Basic principles, applications, and techniques of chromogenic immunochemistry (IHC and ICC) with a hands-on, interactive approach.

  • Attendees will be performing the immunostaining procedure manually.

  • Antibody selection

  • Selection and management of controls

  • Antigen retrieval methods

  • Antibody optimization, validations, troubleshooting

  • Review of pipetting and dilution calculation

  • TMA use cases, design concepts, and construction techniques

Lunch is provided around noon both days. The hands-on portion on day 2 will expand on the variables discussed previously and attendees will get to plan their own variable to assess. Each day will wrap up around 5 pm.

Who's It For?

This workshop is for pathologists, pathology residents, laboratory technicians, research scientists, graduate students, and anyone looking to improve their immunostaining skills and understanding. Its a hands-on adventure that ensures you retain the learning with real-world experience.

How Should I Prepare?

One thing we HIGHLY recommend is the on-demand course, Everything is a Variable: The Program, as a great preparatory step - you can learn more about it here.

How Much Does It Cost?

The cost is $3,000 per attendee and only 12 seats are available! At present, we do have an early bird discount - only $2,500 - that will go away soon but gives you the opportunity to save a few bucks by registering early.
